When I visit San Francisco I try to visit Hong Kong Lounge or sister restaurant Lai Hong Lounge. This trip I opted for Hong Kong Lounge. I was happy to find free street parking a few blocks away. I try my favorite dishes.

Diamond Palace
I remember this mall. Fresh out of college I worked at K-Mart which is now half Burlington Coat Factory and half Northgate Market. I ate here back when this restaurant was Lucky Star. Food was similar to Convoy St dim sum restaurants. Now the place is called Diamond Palace.
Chinese New Year @ Jasmine Express
Chinese New Year celebrations started February 11 Chinese New Year’s Eve and ends February 26th with the Lantern Festival. 2021 is the year of the Ox. In Chinese culture, the Ox is a valued animal. Golden Island
1st visit right before the lockdown: I noticed a under new management sign outside. Inside the place looked the same. Not many people inside for lunch. Seems like Chinese restaurants have been fairly quiet lately. I had my favorite dishes.
Lai Hong Lounge
Years have gone by but my memories of the flavors of fresh sweet bread and savory bbq pork that make up Lai Hong Lounge’s char siu bao remain unchanged. My vacation time is about to expire so a road trip to San Francisco is planned. I manage to slip a visit to Lai Hong Lounge […]
Fung Fung Yuen
I visited this building a few times a year whenever Hometown Buffet mailed me a good coupon. The lines were long when it first opened. I miss the fried chicken from Hometown Buffet. It’s alot fancier now they have transformed into Fung Fung Yuen. I came with the family and lots of dishes were ordered.
Golden Dragon – Los Angeles
We stopped by for lunch on our way to the Rose Parade Float viewing. It’s not my first time here. That was back in the 70’s with my mom and brother. There weren’t any dim sum spots in San Diego back then so we came here. Drive up was beautiful. I loved seeing the orange […]
